As part of the Strategic Plan for Adult Education, the ICCB
has emphasized developing career pathways for all students. As part Adult
Education policy, adult education programs are required to develop bridge
programs. The intent of this academy is to provide the necessary
professional development that will assist programs in meeting this goal.
Bridge programs include three core elements: 1.
Contextualized Instruction 2. Career Awareness/Career Development
3. Transition Services. These three essential elements are key to
student success as they make informed decisions about postsecondary education
and career opportunities. As a part of this process, we encourage you to
examine your program and the labor market needs in your area and partner within
and outside your organization/institution to develop your projects.
The ICCB will select four to six adult education programs
to participate in the project. Those who are interested in participating
in this intensive project must submit an application by June 28, 2013.
The application can be found by clicking the following link: http://icsps.illinoisstate.edu/transitionsacademy/index.html
and under FY14 application, click on FY14 Bridge Application.
Those who are selected will be required to attend the
Transitions Academy that will be held on July 30 and 31, 2013 in Springfield,
IL. Only one application per organization/institution. Project
requirements are included in the application.
