The Forum for Excellence was
held September 22 & 23, 2015 at the Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bloomington-Normal. This year, building on CTE’s increasing
partnership with Adult Education (AE) the Forum for Excellence was presented as
a joint conference with the Illinois Center for Specialized Professional
Support (ICSPS), the Southern Illinois Professional Development Center (SIPDC),
and the Central Illinois Adult Education Service Center (CIAESC) all co-hosting
the event.
The Forum for Excellence
offered nearly 400 participants’ opportunities to gain insight into successful career pathway strategies,
learn about ICAPS implementation, explore the new high school equivalency
models, and share effective practices for dual credit and special populations
support. General Sessions included updates on the impending Perkins
Reauthorization, WIOA’s emphasis on Career Pathways, and the Workforce
Education Strategic Plan. A highlight of
the Conference was the engaging dialogue that occurred during the Engaging Employer Panel between representatives
from Caterpillar and State Farm, as they discussed the importance of employer
engagement while Illinois Secretary of Education provided insight into State
strategies to enhance the partnership between education and industry.
